Nutty for Nudies!

Today was our first collection trip on the coast. We drove down to Boiler Bay, which is just north of Depot Bay, and hiked down a steep embankment during low tide.

We collected a wide variety of nudibranchs to study in the lab, but took more pictures then we did critters. This site had gumboot chiton, purple sea urchins, at least four varieties of sea stars, and my personal favorite, sea slugs!!!!

Also check out the picture of the polychaete, which I picked up before I noticed the massive pinchers and the rows of hooks around its mouth. I will never touch one of these again with anything less than a pencil...I still have those creepy vibe chills!

Hoppy Easter! I'm glad you're having so much fun - hope you don't get sucked into the mudflats. Dad still loves your boots (not!!!) - I think they're cute. Love, Mom
